1899
The beginning of Talens
In 1899, Marten Talens established the “Dutch factory for Paints, Lacquers and Inks”: a family business known for its quality art supplies.
1949
Predicate 'Royal'
In 1949, Queen Wilhelmina grants Talens the predicate ‘Royal’ for its high social responsibility, quality and innovation standards. The Queen herself
was a great fan and daily user of Royal Talens products It’s a distinction Royal Talens carries with respect and expresses in a modern manner.
2005
Launch of Art Creation
In 2005 Royal Talens introduced a new brand, ArtCreation, which was rebranded in 2015 to Talens Art Creation. Specially developed to allow starting artists to
achieve their first successes and to support hobbyists in their creative endeavours, Talens Art Creation offers an affordable and reliable quality in artists’ and craft products.
2009
Extension of the product range

2012
Transfer paint factory
ArtCreation started with easels and canvases from China, accompanied by a small assortment of 24 acrylic colours. As the brand grew it was decided to transfer the paint production from China to the Royal Talens paint factory in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands.
2015
Rebranding and restyling of Talens Art Creation
In 2015 ArtCreation was rebranded to Talens Art Creation. Talens Art Creation offers a complete range of artists’ and hobby materials with various types of paint and painting accessories such as easels and stretched canvases.
2019
Creative range
In 2019 we globally introduced the complete Creative range of Talens Art Creation. The TAC Creative range consists of deco & craft, glass & porcelain and textile. These products are produced in Denmark by Schjerning Farver. Schjerning Farver has its headquarters in Ebeltoft and is an innovative and specialised order producing company, that develop and produces environmentally friendly hobby and school paints.
